How Much Money Can You Make Blogging?

Most people are shocked to learn the income potential for successful bloggers.

Later in this post, I will share eighty-five blogs that are making serious money, from thousands to hundreds of thousands, to millions every month.  That's not a typo; millions every month!

As you can imagine; it’s not easy to find the earnings for most bloggers. Although, we included approx numbers for some, if we didn't have a definitive amount; they were excluded them from this list. There are hundreds of thousands more, than what you’ll read here.

By the end of this post, you will have a better understanding of what it takes to create a highly profitable blog.  Blogging is not a get-rich-quick scenario; blogging is work; it's a serious business; yet very worthwhile!

Blog Topics

The topic ideas are endless!  Sometimes the most random, obscure niches gain more attention.

Think of any off-the-wall topic that you are interested in and Google it; add the word “blog,” and you’ll find it!

There is no end to topic possibilities; when you do the right things, your blog can be wildly successful.

How Many Blogs Are Out There?

To date, there are over 1.6 billion websites in the world; over 600 million are blogs; the authors account for over 2 million posts daily.

As you can imagine, this data isn’t easy to pinpoint, as not all platforms share their status publicly.  

Some of the income numbers are 2019, whereas others are from a few years ago; which means some of the incomes may have doubled or tripled by now.

See How They’ve Grown!

Gary Vaynerchuk

In 1978, Gary immigrated to the US from Belarus with his parents, he was three years old.  When Gary turned fourteen, he started working at his father's liquor store. After graduating from college, Gary took on the daily operations of his father's business.

Gary renamed the store, Wine Library TV, and launched sales online.  He did a daily webcast covering various wines; through e-commerce and pricing strategies, Gary took the family business from $3 million to $60 million a year.

Several years later, Gary stepped away to build VaynerMedia, a digital ad agency that he co-founded with his brother.

VaynerMedia provides social media and strategy services to Fortune 500 companies such as General Electric, Anheuser-Busch, Mondelez, and PepsiCo.

VaynerMedia employees about 1000 people, with an estimated annual revenue of $218.3M.

No doubt, Gary loves what he does; all the hours he puts in, never feels like work!  

Some of the many cool things about Gary, he’s super respectful of older people, he places high value on family heritage, and Gary gives his time freely, mentoring and educating youths worldwide on entrepreneurship and business.  

Cyan & Collis Ta'eed

In 2006, Cyan started blogging from her parent’s garage.

Collis and Cyan, were web designers, but neither knew how to run a business and even less about owning one, but they learned by growing with it!

They built their business with designers, for designers; a wonderful community based on quality and values. 

They let their team work remotely from anywhere they like for three months out of the year.  They’ve designed culture to last by incorporating ideas they would appreciate if they worked for someone else.   

Cyan said, “Imagine a world where you’re not only fueling the economy but fueling a community, that would be incredible!”

Collis & Cyan are two top-earning bloggers in the world with over a dozen high traffic blogs; they work from anywhere in the world as they travel.

Envato offers eight products, revolving around website themes and other digital assets!

Alborz Fallah

Since the age of 12, Alborz has had a huge passion for cars. 

When Alborz first began to blog, like most bloggers, he wasn’t sure which topic to write about, so he created three separate blogs to see which one would stick.

He noticed that his car blog got the most traffic, so he continued building his content based on his favorite subject.  

When Alborz was 22 and studying full-time at the University of Queensland, he founded CarAdvice.com the most comprehensive and independent sources for vehicle reviews.

Alborz is passionate about helping the younger generation and mentors the budding entrepreneurs of UQ.

Fallah sold the majority of his stake in CarAdvice.com to Nine Entertainment for $35 million; the business now employs more than 100 staff nationally, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

Alborz’s other blogs have also become big businesses; he decided to sell some to investors to free his time for other forms of media. 

Now Alborz sells DVD’s of his videos and does podcasts involving his life’s greatest passion; cars!

Russell Brunson

Russell started his career in college, blogging about “How to Build a Potato Gun,” he started selling instructions, complete with schematics and a DVD.  

During his college years, Russel worked countless hours trying to automate sales via email marketing.  At this time he was also married to his High-School sweetheart, Collette. 

Russell wanted Collette to be able to quit her job so they could start a family. But they needed the additional income until he could turn his ideas into a success.

As you read the blog titles and the amounts people are making from blogging, keep this in mind:

•  Every blogger on this site started with “0” followers.
•  They had no idea if they would or could be successful.
•  They persevered even when nothing seemed to be working.     
•  Each blogger was determined, dedicated, and continued to go for it, even in the most difficult of times.

Because it’s rare to find income data from most blogs, it isn’t possible to share the full scope of extremely profitable blogs in diverse niches.

Shocking, isn’t it?

Even if you only blog for readership and not for:

• the income
•  the massive sales
• the Google rankings
• the donations for your favorite cause
• to find volunteers wanting to help serve your mission
• the hundreds and thousands of followers

The number of views and readers is what makes all blogs, successful, no matter what your end goal.

Should I Start A Blog

You may be wondering if blogging could be for you.

Blogging can be for anyone who has a skill, an interest, a talent, a passion, a charity, a cause, something educational, or beneficial to others. Even something silly that's entertaining; as long as people are drawn to it and come back for more, it can be a winner! 

In case you think you can’t write, no worries, you can learn!  

Writing isn't one of my natural God-given gifts either, but I’m working on it and making improvements.

Some of the most successful blogs are not very well written, so please don't let that stop you if this is something you want to do. 

I use a chrome extension called Grammarly; you can sign up for the free version; that's all you need. 

Without this tool, my writing may be atrocious!  I learn every time it corrects my spelling or suggests other options.

If you want to blog but you're opposed to writing, a vlog (video) can be just as powerful!  You'll still want to house it on a blog for maximum exposure and a place for people to opt in to your list, and purchase other items. 

Your knowledge, desire, and passion are the most important.

Everything else is learn-able, or as Marie Forleo would say, it's figureoutable!
